My Husband Deceived Me Into Marriage – Pastor’s Wife Tells Court
A woman, Ngozi Odoma of Mararaba in Nasarawa State has appealed to an Upper Area Court in Mararaba to dissolve her six-year-old marriage.
She told the court on Friday that her husband, Philip, deceived her into the marriage.
“This man here is a married man with seven children. He also claims to be a pastor.’’
She said that Philip had refused to pay her bride price since 2007 and was always giving excuses when reminded to do so.
“Philip is in the habit of beating me. The last time, he used a knife, inflicting serious injuries on me.
“He has chased me out of the apartment I rented since February, vowing to kill me.
“The marriage is blessed with two children. The marriage has broken down irretrievably.’’
She begged the court to dissolve the union and hand over all her property in his possession to her, including a school in Aku Village, Mararaba.
But Philip denied the claims, saying: “I am a joint owner of the school.’’
The Presiding Judge, Vincent Gwahemba, ordered the complainant to bring her witnesses to court at the next sitting of the matter.
He adjourned the case to June 4.
