The principal of Ijokodo Junior Secondary School
1, Ibadan, Oyo State Mr Segun Dare, was on
Wednesday, found dead along the street to his
home at Citaga area, Sango-Eleyele road, several
hours after he didn't turn up at home as
expected.
Accordng to reports, Mr Dare, who left home
the previous day, was discovered face down in a
gutter, with his mobile handset in his pocket and
a polythene bag containing soup ingredients like
fish and pepper beside him.
It was gathered that the deceased left his home
in the afternoon of Tuesday, September 3, to go
to a first generation bank along Sango-Eleyele
road but could not do what he intended doing
there as he got there late.
He was said to have attempted to use the
influence of one of his friends in the bank but
was unsuccessful as the friend told him he could
not help.
Mr Dare reportedly called his wife and told her
that he did not achieve his objective, informing
her that he was returning home immediately.
A reliable source who spoke under the condition
of anonymity said the man did not turn up at
home as he promised, and when it was about 40
minutes after, his wife called his number to know
his whereabouts.
To her surprise, a strange voice answered the
call, telling her to get off the line as her husband
was busy and would call her later.
Not too long after, the voice called to inform her
that she could call her husband if she wished but
her attempts at speaking with the deceased
failed as her calls went unanswered.
The wife was said to have raised a search party
which went round without locating the principal
until late into Tuesday night.
The search party continued the following
morning when his body was discovered.
Since the discovery of the principal's body, there
had been speculations that he was probably
killed by some hoodlums who had been going to
the school compound to smoke Indian hemp.
The source said that some of the hoodlums were
sighted in the school smoking Indian hemp about
nine weeks ago, when the Senior Secondary
School students were sitting for their qualifying
examination into SSS3 class.
They were reportedly chased away while they
mounted waiting motorcycles parked around
WAEC junction to escape.
Then, that some hoodlums came back to the
school a week after and disrupted the
examination on the final day.
The school was also said to have written a letter
to the Ministry of Education to intimate the
authorities of the disruption of the examination.
The late principal was supposed to retire from
service in February, 2014.

Well, new findings reveal that he acted in the

A notorious cult member, identified as Tunde
Lawal, was reportedly shot in the chest during a
clash with rival groups after he and another cult
member identified as Para Alabi had accosted
and molested a 5-month pregnant woman.
Lawal, 23 was reported to be a member of the
Eiye cult group terrorising the community and
reportedly met his death in the evening of
Tuesday, September 3, 2013.
The duo reportedly left the woman unconscious
at the scene of the rape before finding their way
to where Lawal met his death. It was reported
that barely an hour after Lawal and his partner-
in-crime arrived at a beer pub, about 12
members of a rival cult group arrived in a big
bus.
They headed straight for the place where the Eye
group was seated. Almost immediately a heated
argument ensued among them and members of
the two groups reportedly started firing into the
air as if to scare the other group and when
Lawal wanted to engage the leader of the
opposing group in the fight, he was shot twice in
his chest.
He immediately slumped and died, lying in the
pool of his blood. About six other members of
the two groups were severely wounded before
others took to their heels.
According to the community leader, "That boy
(Lawal) and his gang are thorn in the flesh of
everyone of us in this area. The most annoying
aspect of it is that we heard that the parents of
most of these bad boys live close to us here, but
they could not call their sons to order".
A police source at Alade Police Station claimed
that some relatives of Lawal came to the station
to demand for documents to enable them collect
his remains from the mortuary, which they were
immediately issued.

The Nigerian Army is to build its first 5 star
standard hotel in Enugu as part of its efforts to
diversify its sources of funding, the Chief of Army
Staff, Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, has said. He
said the hotel would offer alternatives to soldiers
in transit while it would also be accessible to the
civilian population.
He also said the hotel would be built under a
public-private partnership arrangement.
The building is located along the 82 div. road at
the top of the hill were one can view the

The building when completed will be the tallest
in the city as Enugu is well known for
its sophistic-us manner especially in building a

The 2013 Miss World pageant is scheduled to
hold at the Sentul International Convention
Center in Jakarta, Indonesia on Saturday
September 28th..but it won't hold if the Muslim
women in the country have their way.
For days now, members of an Islamic group
called Hizbut Tahrir have been protesting
against the pageant in Jakarta. Yesterday, they
converge outside the office of the local organizer
of the beauty contest, MNC media group,
warning them not to stage the pageant in the
city.
Other cities are also holding protests, demanding
that the permit to hold Miss World pageant in
their country be revoked, saying that the
pageant runs against their culture.
MNC Group and Miss World Organization say
it's too late to find a new location but promised
that contestants would not be allowed to wear
bikini at the event.

Nollywood actor Bob Manuel
Udokwu laid his mother to rest on
Friday, August 30, 2013 and some
have expressed their disappointment at the
absence of other nollywood stars at the event.
According to eyewitness, the family and members
of the community from which the actor turned
politicians hails expected to see some of the
stars that usually grace their screens, only to be
disappointed as Nollywood actors and reps were
hardly represented at the burial.
"Everybody was hoping for a large turnout of
Nollywood stars, the likes of Genevieve Nnaji, Rita
Dominic and so on, but we were all disappointed
that only the not so popular actors turned up for
the burial and that was very sad and

Rita Marley, wife of the late Reggae music icon,
Bob Marley, will participate in the Felabration
Festival, this year.
The deal was signed and agreed

A 26-year-old actress Nancy
Ndukwe of Jikwoyi, Abuja, was sentenced by
Abuja Senior Magistrates' Court on September 6,
2013, Friday. She was convicted for two months
of imprisonment for stealing an IPad, IPhone and
jewellery.
Cpl. Paul Anigbo, on the side of the prosecution,
told the court that the matter was reported at the
Lugbe Police Station by one Faith Njoku of
Kapuwa Village, Lugbe, Abuja on September 2.
The prosecutor told the court that Nancy Ndukwe
visited her friend Njoku on the above-mentioned
date and stole her IPad, IPhone and jewellery, all
valued at N190,000.
Cpl. Anigbo gave the value of each of the items
as reported by the complainant: IPad - N100,000;
IPhone - N50,000 and jewellery - N40,000.
The prosecutor informed that the police
discovered all the stolen items in the convict's
possession.
Cpl. Anigbo stated that the offence contravened
the provisions of Section 287 of the Penal Code.
The convict pleaded guilty to the charge but
begged the court for mercy.
"I stole the items due to frustration. I have a one-
year-old son to cater for. I am sorry and I
promise not to do such again," Nancy Ndukwe
said.
Mr. Celestine Odo, the Magistrate, sentenced the
convict for two months imprisonment or an option
of N6,000 fine.
Most Rev. Ignatius Ogboru Kattey,
the Dean, Archbishop and Bishop
of Niger Delta North Anglican
Communion of Nigeria, was last
night kidnapped by yet to be identified gunmen in
Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State.
The incident happened on the night September 6,
2013, at about 11.30 p.m.
The clergyman, along with his wife, Beatrice was
captured on Aleto bridge, Eleme in Eleme Local
Government Area of Rivers State, but the wife
was later found abandoned in their car.
The whereabouts of the archbishop remains
unknown.
Sources said the Archbishop and the wife were
driving to Port Harcourt late on Friday to beat the
traffic restrictions Saturday morning, occasioned
by the monthly environmental Sanitation.
Unknown to them, the exercise would not hold
because of the GCE-WAEC examination taking
place today.

Otuoke, the university community, in Ogbia Local
Government Area of Bayelsa, was thrown into
mourning on Thursday morning. Members of the
community woke up to hear reports that a 36-
year old man raped an 18-year old teenage girl
to death.
The man, who was said to have been driven by
his excessive libido, was identified as a close
associate to a former Community Development
Chairman.
It was learnt that the man whose name could
not be determined hailed from Isoko in Delta
State Local Government Area.
He was rounded up by an operative of the
Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps
(NSCDC) who saw him attempting to cast the
remains of the girl into a nearby bush.
But some persons in the community claimed the
suspect was trying to assist the girl in his home
before she died.
The Nation gathered that the suspect lives in an
uncompleted building across the Otuoke bridge,
few meters away from the house of President
Goodluck Jonathan.
Eyewitnesses said the man was apprehended
with the naked remains of his victim, claiming
that the suspect must have drugged the girl
before raping her.
A source who identified herself as Eunice said
the suspect claimed that he met his victim
writhing in pains and decided to assist her.
She said: "We saw the civil defence officer
dragging the man and lamenting that the man
had raped a teenager to death. We rushed to the
scene. The man was begging for understanding.
"He said he was innocent. He said he met the
girl in pains. According to him the girl was
frustrated and drank poison and was rolling
violently on the ground when he met her.
"He said attempted to rescue the girl and
borrowed N5, 000 to take her to a clinic. On
getting to the clinic, he said there was no one
on duty and that he took the girl to his house.
The girl according to him died in his house
later."

Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola has barred
commercial buses known as
Molue from plying Lagos Island. The ban which
takes immediate decrees that
Molue riders should not operate on bridges like
the 3rd Mainland, Eko &
Carter Bridges and in the Central Business
District of the state.
LASG said the decision was made in order to
monitor commercial bus
operators as regards compliance with traffic
rules and regulations.

A seven-man robbery gang led by a
woman, Chioma Ezekwesiri, has been
smashed by the Special Anti-Robbery
Squad, SARS, in Lagos, southwest
Nigeria. The robbery suspects were
arrested while attempting to rob
Bolatito Hotel, Kola Bus Stop, Ijaiye,
Lagos. In chat with P.M.NEWS, Chioma
said she arranged for the guns with
Raymond Chukwuka, a.k.a. Stubborn,
they were to use for the operation,
which she claimed was a land matter,
whereas the police said that their
mission was allegedly to rob a male
customer of the hotel, who sells
fertilizer, of about N8 million. Other
suspected members of the gang are:
Amadi Igwe, 41, Raymond Chukwuka,
24, Ignatius Okeredi, 27, Michael Madu,
52, and Okechukwu Jerome, 28, and a
yet-to-be identified member who is at
large. The alleged robbery operation,
according to the police, was foiled by
some staff of the hotel, who promptly
made a distress call to SARS operatives.
The law enforcement agents were said
to have surrounded the hotel, and later
searched all its occupants. It was in the
process that two locally made guns and
12 live ammunition were recovered
from the robbery suspects. "We
received a distress call from a staff of
Bolatito Hotel, who said they suspected
some people around the hotel. The
Special Anti-Robbery Squad moved in,
surrounded the place and demanded to
search everybody. It was in the process
that two
guns and 12 live ammunition were
recovered in Chioma's car. This led to
the arrest of all her gang members," a
top police source told P.M.NEWS.
Following their arrest and conclusion of
investigation, the police took them to
court. Chioma, 35, who claimed to be a
Law graduate from the University of
Lagos, was remanded in prison custody
along with six other members of her
gang by Magistrate A.O. Komolafe of the
Magistrates' Court, Ikeja. They are
facing a three count charge of robbery,
conspiracy and unlawful possession of
firearms. Chioma claimed that she
graduated from UNILAG in 1999, was
called to the bar in 2000, and owns a
Non-Governmental Organisation, Youth
of All Nations Empowerment
Association. But authorities of the
University of Lagos said she did
graduate from that institution. An
officer of the school, who craved
anonymity, said Chioma cannot claim to
be an alumnus of the university if she
cannot provide her matriculation
number. "The fact that she claimed to
have gone to Law School with the first
batch is not substantial enough. UNILAG
usually sends graduating students at a
stretch, not in batches. My position on
the issue is that she did not graduate
from UNILAG, and so she was not our
student," the officer said. Chioma's
claim of being called to the Bar was also
debunked by Barrister Tunji Busari of
Cognate Solicitors, who explained that
"we have a directory for all lawyers.
We have all their names with the year
they were called to bar, with their NBA
registration numbers. When I checked
through her name in the directory, I
could not find her name in my record
book." When our reporter called Mr.
J.E. Joshua, the chairman of Youth of All
Nations Empowerment Association, he
denied that Chioma is the founder of the
association. "She just participated in a
charity work which the association
embarked on in April, and promised to
participate fully in other projects of the
NGO. But we decided to stop working
with her when we realised that she
wasn't a straight forward person. She is
not working with us," Joshua stated. —

that the Kenyan ex-soldier Abdi Galgalo Guyo
who claims to be Dillish's father is indeed is the

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved
a 5-year jail term or N200,000 or both for
anyone caught cheating in the West Africa
Examination Council (WAEC). This
announcement was made yesterday in Abuja by
the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai
while briefing the States House Correspondents.
The Federal Executive Council already had
directed the Ministry of Justice to take further

In this revealing interview, ex BBA Housemate
talks about her relationship with Angelo and her
experience in the Big Brother house.

24 hours after she arrived Nigeria, BBA The
Chase finalist Beverly Osu was rushed to Faith
City Hospital, Oju Olobun Close, off Bishop
Oluwole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The BBA star was admitted for treatment due to
a sprain ankle she suffered in the BBA house, a
day to the finale.
For 91 days, the video vixen entertained Africa
with so many tales of her life experiences and of
course, the widely condemned sexual encounter
that resulted from an in-house love affair
between her and another housemate, Angelo
Collins.
The one question everybody wanted to know was
why she succumbed to her sexual urges and
having sex with the South African while the
entire continent watched.
'I did not have sex in the house, I never had sex
in the house. I had a relationship with Angelo
Collins but we didn't have sex. Nothing
happened between me and Angelo. Though there
were awkward moments, we never had sex. I
know what happened then between us but we
never got down to have sex', she insists.
Rumour has it that Angelo has a girlfriend, but
Beverly doesn't seem to care. 'I don't want to
talk about his so called girlfriend because I don't
know anything about her'.
Does she see a future in the relationship, she
says, 'We talk every day. He loves me and I still
love him. I would get married to him if I had the
chance.'
Of course on the issue of nudity she says, 'all of
us take our baths naked. So I shouldn't be
different because I went for a reality show. I
shouldn't be different from every other person,
because I didn't bring out my videos, Big Brother
did so I should not be judged, and I represented
Nigeria well'.
Particularly known for her fabulous stories: from
abortion to rape to sleeping with men for money
and dating musicians, she seems not to regret
her actions at all. 'I'm a very open person.
Melvin knows, he stayed with me for 91 days. I
say what's on my mind, and for me to reveal
myself to the world, it didn't look like I was
revealing myself to the world', she said, 'I was
talking too much, maybe, but I'm on a reality
show. I don't regret saying the things that I said
about me and my family, because if I have to be
on this platform, people have to know the real
me and what I've been through.'
As much as she discussed her mom's ugly past
on terrestrial television, her mom's love was
never lost from her side. 'I can never go out of
my way to disgrace and disappoint my mom
intentionally. She has lectured me properly. And
even if the whole world rejects me, my mom
can't reject me. I love my mom so much. I am
her only daughter and last born. I've always
been there for her and she'll always be there for
me.'
Herconduct in the house has been termed an
embarrassment to Nigeria as a country, and
Beverly apologises, 'I don't feel happy about it
since this will be the first time I will be
representing Nigeria… I'm sorry for embarrassing
my country. I didn't do it intentionally. My
participation in the show was not to embarrass
my country'.
Was 2shotz the rapper boyfriend Beverly claimed
was constantly abusing her? 'No. I wasn't
referring to him. For me, 2shots is history.
Thank you for reminding me about him.'
She may have lost out on the $300,000 prize
money, but she made history by becoming the
first BBA contestant that was never nominated
for eviction since the inception of the African
franchise of the television series in 2003 and for
that she says, 'I broke a record… I made Nigeria
proud'.
Beverly has come out of the show a celebrity,
whether for the right reasons or the wrong, but
she is hoping to roll on with the little fame she
has achieved. 'Before I left, I had a show called
'Beverly Says' and I'm back to push it. If you
guys watched Big Brother, you would be very
sure that I can act, so I'd go into movies, but
then, I have to finish school because I'm in my
200 level.'

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has
apologised to the people of Imo State for signing
the legalisation of abortion law.
He tendered the apology while addressing the
people of the state yesterday at the temporary
chamber of Imo State House of Assembly at
Ojukwu Convention Centre.
Chief Okorocha urged the people of the state to
forgive him because he signed the bill ignorantly.
According to him, Okorocha is a lover of children
and he has trained children that are not his
biological children.
He, therefore, urged Imo lawmakers to expunge
the section of the bill that contained abortion.
The governor pointed out that he has special
interest for children because they are the leaders
of tomorrow.
After the governor's speech, the mover of the
abortion bill that was passed into law,
Honourable Adaku Ihioma, equally moved that
the section of the bill that contained abortion
should be expunged.
The deputy speaker, who presided over the
assembly, Donatus Ozoemena, said that the
section of the bill that contained abortion had
passed the first reading and was adjourned till
September for the second reading.
It will be recalled that the Catholic Archbishop of
Owerri Diocese, Most Rev. Anthony J.V Obinna,
on Friday, while addressing newsmen, urged
government to repeal the abortion law in the

Edo State Government has taken custody of
Daniel Ohikhena, the 13-year old boy who flew to
Lagos in the tyre compartment of an Arik
airplane.
It was not confirmed on Wednesday where the
lad would be kept.
Many government officials declined comments on
the matter but a top source said Daniel would
not be given to the family.
The source said they discovered that Daniel
would not do well if he is returned to either his
mother or father since they are
separated.Daniel's father, Osaigbovo, who

In a telephone chat, Osaigbovo said he has been
begging for them to allow him see his son even
for a few minutes, adding that he was yet to be

A jailed rapist will discover this week whether he
contracted HIV from his victim.
Richard Thomas, 27, collapsed when police
informed him about his victim's medical status
and is still waiting to hear if he has contracted
the virus.
May have HIV: Richard Thomas will not find out
until later this week if he is infected with the
virus as a direct result of a sex attack he carried
out on a womanThomas knew the woman and
was aware that she has another illness but had
not known about the HIV.
He was shocked when he was told and asked to
be taken to hospital, Liverpool Crown Court
heard.
He had let himself into her home in Leigh,
Greater Manchester, uninvited in the middle of
the night and she awoke to find him molesting
her from behind.
"She froze and no words were exchanged. He
pulled up his shorts and left," said Harry Pepper,
prosecuting.
"He was arrested and interviewed and said he
had been drinking heavily, taken cocaine and
ecstasy and could not recall the incident," he
added.
His barrister, Virginia Hayton, said that he still
cannot recall the attack but when told about it
he said that the woman "would not lie, she tells
the truth. If she says I have done it, I have done
it."
Jailing Thomas for five years and four months,
Judge Mark Brown said he had committed "this
dreadful offence" while she lay asleep, having
taken a sleeping tablet, and left her distressed
and anxious.
He ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders
Register for life.
Thomas, of Sandringham Drive, Leigh, pleaded
guilty to molesting the woman on July 20 this
year.
Miss Hayton said that Thomas, who has
previous convictions but none for sexual
offences, "is remorseful and cannot understand
why he did it and it is troubling him."
She said that he will not find out the result of
his HIV test until Friday and has had the worry
of the outcome hanging over him.
A rapist recently jailed at Liverpool Crown Court
will have to wait until Friday to find out if he
has caught HIV from his victim
"It is his own fault, if he had not committed this
offence he would not have placed himself in this
position."
She said that he started using cannabis at the
age of nine and was drinking heavily at the age
of 11. He became addicted to ecstasy and
cocaine at 13 and was put in care the following
year.
He has been trying to contact his family but they
want nothing to do with him, she said, and he

daughters from previous relationships.

Information reaching NEWS-ONE indicates that
Nando, the Tanzanian Housemate at the just
ended Big Brother Africa; The Chase
competition , who was disqualified for
threatening to stab Elikem Kumordzi, stole one
of the 'Go-Pro' cameras for reality show.
According to a source who spoke to the paper,
the incident happened on the final day of the
show when all the housemates were invited
back into the house to spend time with winner
Dillish before coming on stage.
"During the final event, Nando tried to steal a
Go-Pro camera and one of the housemates told
me. My first reaction was 'what is wrong with
this guy', after all he has done now he is
stealing a Go-Pro camera too?" the source
disclosed.
Fortunately, the whole incident was captured by
the Big Brother cameras and upon confrontation,
the disappointed Big Brother housemate
admitted his fault and returned the camera.
It can be recalled that the Tanzanian housemate
got his first strike for concealing a weapon to a
party during his stay in the house. He also got
his final strike after it was discovered that he
had hidden a pair of scissors under his bed. He
was disqualified and expelled from the contest
immediately.

Obianodo, had succeeded, his last words on
earth could have been the wild exclamation

started firing volleys of bullets into his car.
Below is a blow-by-blow account of the attack
and how the man was saved:
A police source said the Inspector of Police, who
is attached to B Ops, Patrol and Guard at the
Lagos State Police command, Ikeja, has been
working with Chief Obianodo for two years, as a
guard. He described the action of the Inspector
as 'the only saving grace', saying as soon as
the bandits blocked Chief's car with theirs, they
came out firing towards the two cars in the
convoy.
According to him, "That exclamation from the
chief moved the police Inspector and he quickly
used his body to act as a protective shield
against that of Chief Obianodo. Inspector
Ogbueshi took that risk because he could not
think of allowing the transporter to be killed like
a chicken. That was why he covered the chief
who had already collapsed on the steering after
he was hit by bullets, and subsequently the
Inspector engaged the hoodlums in serious
exchange of fire. After sometime, he pretended
as if he was dead and just laid on top of the
chief.
"At that stage, one of the attackers came out
from their vehicle and approached that of chief
with a view to finishing what they started, not
knowing that the Inspector was closing in on
him. As soon as he approached their car, the
gallant Inspector released several shots into his
large frame and he laid dead, clutching his AK 49
fully loaded gun. His gang members however,
tried to sustain the firing and at that stage, the
Inspector devised a new strategy. He tried to
quickly slip out of the car, aim at their driver
and demobilize their vehicle. Unfortunately, as
he was discreetly stepping out of the car, his
legs slipped and he fell into a ditch.
"The ditch is so deep that it swallowed both the
Inspector and his gun. While inside the ditch, he
was still making frantic efforts to accomplish his
mission while the attackers concentrated on
firing at both the Chief's car and his back up
pick up security van occupied by two other
policemen and Chief's driver. Unfortunately, they
succeeded in killing the police constable in the
backup car and the driver. The Inspector
managed and raised himself from the ditch and
also released another round of bullets into their
vehicle thereby shattering the back windscreen.
"That was when the attackers quickly jumped
into their car and sped off. It is believed that
some of them must have been badly injured
after the exchange of fire and could not have
gone far if the chief's security aids had received
back up from the police.
"The Police from Festac division only
approached the scene of the shooting after they
saw the Inspector in uniform coming out from
the ditch. They were then showed two of the
attackers who were gunned down with their
heavily loaded weapons. Six loaded magazines
were seen inside the bag of the first dead
suspect.
"Interestingly, while policemen were still going
through the contents of his bag, his phone
started ringing stridently. It was also recovered
by the police. The brave Inspector who has
served the force in different states of the
federation for over 32 years is from Udenu L.G.A
in Enugu State and is married with two children.
Luckily, he had only a sprain on the leg after the
deadly encounter."
Investigations carried out by Vanguard's Crime
Alert revealed that the first attacker that was
gunned down is a popular auto dealer at Amuwo
odofin area of Lagos State and is reputed to be
seen frequently in police circles in the area. A
source that refused to be named said also that
the motive for trying to assassinate Chief
Obianodo may not be far from recent clash
between a popular night club owner in the area
and the Police in Festac.
The transport magnate was reportedly said to
have intervened on behalf of the young Club
owner making it impossible for him to be
intimidated or run out of his business. This, the
source continued, may not have gone well with
some people, hence the attempt on his life.
Associates of the wounded Chief told Crime Alert
that he was flown out of the country last
Monday in an air ambulance to USA. The Chief
was reported to have asked his aids after he
recovered from the shock in a private hospital in
Apapa, "Why did they want to kill a man like me
that is feeding not less than 10,000 Nigerians?
Would they be able to feed all these people?"
The Young Shall Grow boss' family are however
demanding a transfer of the case from FESTAC
police station to a neutral police state.
