Nigerian Company Pays Clinton N100m To Speak

Just to speak at an event in Lagos,
southwest Nigeria, a Nigerian
company paid the former American
President, Bill Clinton, $700,000 (over N100
million), the New York Times disclosed on
Thursday.
The New York Times did not disclose the name of
the company which handed Clinton the huge sum
of money.
Clinton, since he left office, has visited Nigeria
many times, the last two being a guest speaker at
the launch of Eko Atlantic City and Thisday Awards.
America's influential newspaper did not also
disclose when the money was paid but said Bill
Clinton made $17 million (N2.5 billion) from
speeches last year alone.
The disclosure was made as the newspaper
revealed also that Hillary Clinton will be paid
$200,000 to offer pithy reflections and Mitch
Albom-style lessons from her time as the nation's
top diplomat.
"The $200,000 she commands appears to be
comparable to what Bill Clinton receives for
speeches delivered in this country, though Mr.
Clinton - who earned $17 million from speeches
last year - has collected much more outside the
United States, including the $700,000 he was paid
when he spoke to a company in Lagos, Nigeria,"
The New York Times said.
Some of the businessmen who had invited Bill
Clinton to Nigeria include Nduka Obaigbena,
publisher of ThisDay newspaper whose workers
protested in May 2013 for being owed months of
unpaid salaries.

"Patience Jonathan Is My Jesus Christ" - Anti- Ameachi Lawmaker Says

The leader of the the anti-Rotimi Amaechi
camp of lawmakers in River state, Evans
Bipi, has explained the reasons he led an
onslaught on the state's House of assembly
on Tuesday.
Mr. Bipi, who led a team of five lawmakers,
allegedly backed by thugs, to trigger violence in
the State's House of Assembly, gave three reasons
for his action.
In a video, shot immediately after the fracas, Mr.
Bipi offered reasons that gave credence to the
belief that the primary reason for the ongoing crisis
in the state is all about President Goodluck
Jonathan. None of the reasons bothered on
governance or lack of it.
"Why must he be insulting the president," Mr. Bipi
asked an unidentified fellow restraining him from a
second onslaught on the his colleagues on the
opposite side of the divide.
In another astonishing explanation that might
inflame Christians in Nigeria and around the world,
Mr. Bipi said he was fighting to remove the Rivers
State governor because the governor "insulted" the
First Lady, Patience Jonathan, who he said is his
Jesus Christ on earth.
"Why must he be insulting my mother, my Jesus
Christ on earth?" Mr. Bipi angrily asked the fellow
who apparently hugged him to restrain him from
further violence.
When contacted on the comment, Mr. Bipi said
that the first lady is indeed his Jesus Christ on
earth.
"I have no mother, I have no father. She (Mrs.
Jonathan) is my mother," he said.
Mr. Bipi, believed to be a cousin of the first lady,
explained that he "lived" with her for several years.
He said he could not bear the governor insulting
the president and the most important woman in his
life.
The Rivers State Information Commissioner, Ibim
Semenitari, denied the governor ever insulted
President Jonathan and his wife, Patience.
"The governor of River State holds the president in
very high regards, as well as the First Lady, and
therefore cannot insult any of them," she said. "She
is a daughter of the state and is accorded the
highest respect."
A larger part of Mr. Bipi's rapid rise in politics is
credited to the mentorship of the First Lady.

Soyinka Is An Embarrassment To His Admirers – Patience Jonathan

Wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, on
Friday took on the Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole
Soyinka, for attributing the crisis in the Rivers
State House of Assembly to her.
In a statement by her spokesman, Ayo Osinlu, the
President's wife said Soyinka betrayed the moral
duty that expected him, as a respected member
of the society, to carefully consider all shades of
issues that informed his opinions on any matter.
Mrs. Jonathan said Soyinka had become an
embarrassment to his admirers with his diatribe
against her.
The statement read in part, "Unfortunately,
Soyinka betrayed moral duty in his recent diatribe
against Mrs. Patience Jonathan.
"Of course, this would not be the first time he
would reach out against the First Lady, usually
from self-righteously indignant lecterns.
"In this particular instance, his verdict was that
Mrs. Jonathan was 'stoking the crisis currently
rocking her home state of Rivers…', and
thereupon asked Mr. President to caution his wife.
"The good, old Prof. reminds one of the truth that
indeed, most of the giants on the street are men
of like passions like everyone else. Worse still,
most of them are actually standing on clay feet
and would fail the test of a gentle push.
"Otherwise, who would have believed that the
social, civil, constitutional and sundry rights
crusader Prof. would maintain a safe distance
from the heart of an activity that is a potential
threat to the peace, security and safety of the
people of a state, then collect exaggerated stories
and jaundiced perspectives from familiar
propagandists and character assassins, and
promptly summon the media to a "state of the
nation" address.
"It's an embarrassment to his throng of admirers
and followers, that a sage of Prof. Soyinka's
status, who used to be a gauge of public morality
in this nation, would lend himself to a propaganda
of high drive, to save a governor who elected to
launch into a river without applicable survival
skills."
Mrs. Jonathan argued that the calculation was to
attack the President and pull to pieces anyone
associated with him, as a strategy for attracting
public sympathy to the "clear underdog."

Your Wife Is Just A Domestic Appendage; Angry Prof Soyinka Lambasts Jonathan

Nigeria's foremost human rights activists,
Professor Wole Soyinka and Femi Falana (SAN), on
Thursday came down heavily on President
Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience;
describing the first lady in particular as a "mere
domestic appending of power" who should stop
meddling in governance.
Prof Soyinka and Falana lambasted President
Jonathan for:

security apparatus to intimidate Governor Rotimi
Amaechi.
They also called on the police hierarchy to remove

speaker of Rivers state, Evans Bipi, describing the
man as "a clown".
Prof Soyinka and Falana addressed the Press on

SHOCKING: Woman Delivers Baby Without Brain

A woman believed to be in her 30's
yesterday gave birth to what appears to be
a baby without a brain at the General
hospital Kagarko, Kagarko local government
area of Kaduna State.
It was gathered that the woman delivered her
baby early yesterday morning in the hands of
nurses and midwives at the said hospital.
Recall that only on Monday, a woman had given
birth to a monkey-like baby at the same hospital.
A health worker at the hospital told journalists that
the baby which later died after delivery was born
abnormal.
"The events of the past two days are making
everybody scared in the area. We cannot
understand why things like these are happening in
our local government," he said.
"What is happening requires medical explanation.
We need to know whether it is human error or a
miracle."
When the medical director of the hospital, Dr.
Habila Kambai, was contacted on phone, he said
that the baby was born with a "very small head."

SHOCKING: Nursing Mother Commits Suicide After Baby Dedication.

A 35-year-old woman, identified as Ejobosele
Okoruwa. has committed suicide in Ekpoma,
Esan West Local Government, Edo State, few
hours after dedicating her three months old
baby in a church.
Ejobosele dedicated her baby on Sunday, while she
killed herself in the early hours of Monday.
Her lifeless body was found dangling from the
ceiling with the wrapper she allegedly used to hang
herself.
Husband of the deceased, Okoruwa told journalists
that he slept in the sitting room with two of his
children, while his wife slept in the bedroom with
their eldest daughter and the baby.
Okoruwa said it was shouts from his daughter
around 2am that woke him up, adding that he
rushed inside the room only to see his wife
dangling from the ceiling.
He said recent behaviour of his wife indicated that
she was depressed, but it did not occur to him that
she would take her own life.
He said, "I usually sleep in the parlour with two of
our children and it was not different that day. My
wife slept in the bedroom with our eldest daughter
and the baby.
"Around 2am, my daughter started shouting from
the bedroom. I rushed inside, thinking that she was
having a nightmare, but I was shocked to see the
lifeless body of my wife dangling from the ceiling.
She had hung herself.
"She had been exhibiting some strange behaviour
recently. One time she would be moody; the next,
she will just be looking at one direction. When you
call her she would not respond.
"I tried to know if she had any problem bothering
her, but she said she was okay. There was a time
she told my eldest daughter to take care of the
children that she would be going away. I thought
she was abandoning the marriage. I pleaded and
she promised to stay. She equally complained of
some health problems. I asked her to go for test
which she did."
The Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Esan
West, Mr. Akpoko Omuohowo, who confirmed the
incident, said the police were still investigating.

Scarcity Of Cooking Gas Worsens In South West

The scarcity of Liquefied Petroleum
Gas (cooking gas) has worsened in
Lagos and Ogun states as a result of
the lack of supply from the Nigerian LNG
Limited, the major supplier of the product in
the country.
The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety
Agency had since June 21 barred NLNG cargoes
from entering or leaving the loading bay at the
Bonny terminal in the Niger Delta region over non-
payment of $158m levies.
This has affected cooking gas supply as NLNG
vessels cannot discharge in Lagos as a result of the
blockade.
As a result of the crisis, LPG consumers are now
being forced to bear the brunt with a 12-
kilogramme cylinder of gas, which is normally sold
between N2,800 and N3,000, now selling for
N3,500 at LPG plants, and between N4,000 and
N4,500 at retail shops.
The PUNCH had on July 3 reported that the price of
cooking gas had gone up by 16.6 per cent from
about N3,000 to N3,300 at plants, and N3,500 at
retail shops.
Many gas plants, which still had the product in
stock as at the time of the July 3 report, had
resorted to rationing, but the situation has now
gone worse with most LPG plants out of stock.
One of the plants located at Magodo area of Lagos,
which sold a 12kg cylinder of gas for N3,200 on
Monday, however, sold the same quantity for
N3,500 on Tuesday amid high demand from
customers, who besieged the facility in order to fill
their cylinders.
The National President, Liquefied Petroleum Gas
Retailers Association of Nigeria, Mr. Michael
Umudu, who spoke with newsmen on Tuesday,
lamented the development.
He recalled that though there were speculations
last week that scarcity of the product was
imminent, he said the situation had escalated
beyond imagination due to the unavailability of the
product in many LPG plants.
Umudu warned that the situation might worsen if
the NIMASA/NLNG rift was not quickly resolved.
"The situation will be worse if nothing is done in the
next two days," he said, adding that majority of
retailers had already run out of the product.

I Am A Loner And Cry A Lot – Kenny Saint Brown

Ever since the separation from her hubby, Eddy
Remedy, years back, Kehinde Ogungbe popularly

Lagos University Teaching Hospital [LUTH] acquires wonder scanner that detects death in 10 seconds

If you have just 11 seconds to live, you now have
a chance of survival with the latest scanning
equipment. Lagos University Teaching Hospital
LUTH said they have acquired a CT scan
equipment that has the capacity to run a check on
all organs of the body, from head to toe in less
than 10 seconds and fish out a patients death
points for immediate treatment. The machine,
called the 128-slice Aquillon CT scanner is the first
of it's kind in West Africa.Speaking on the
machine, the Chief Medical Director, LUTH,
Professor Akin Osibogun told Nigerian Tribune:
"The Aquillon CT scanner is a 128-scanner and the
main advantage it has over other CT scanners of
earlier generations is its ability to penetrate
deeper into the tissues and organs to show clearly
the state of those tissues and organs. Of course
the CT scanner is an imaging device and because
it is able to provide images of tissues and organs
inside the body. We are able to see the state in
which those tissues and organs are and we are
able to make diagnosis that help us to provide
appropriate treatment for the patients.
"Earlier generations CT scanners are of course far
better in terms of diagnostic capability than the x-
ray because they provide clearer definitions than
the x-ray but moving to a 128-slice CT scanner, in
fact, that it is in terms of where current knowledge
is, with regards to ability to get clearer images of
tissues and organs that are internal to the body
and therefore we are able to make better
diagnosis. A further advantage of the 128-CT
scanner is its speed with which it works and that
means it is able to capture parts of the body that
are in motion.
"So the Aquillon CT scanner is a very fast
machine, able to pick items in motion and that
advantage enables us now to study even the heart
as it is beating and as it is pumping out blood, so
we are able to study the arteries, the veins as the
blood flow through them, so if there is a thin
blockage or a blockage is developing, the scanner
is able to pick it."
"So in coronary heart disease for instance, the
scanner is a vast advantage over other imaging
devices because we are able to pick them up
early and we can then advise that patient on
dietary changes or whatever changes that are
necessary and if you have the capability, you can
actually combine it with what we called
interventional cardiology.
"You can remove small plague or small particles
that are already forming on the way. It is just
simply by introducing a catheter, you guide the
catheter under the imaging device and go to
where you want to go and remove what you want
to remove, without opening the chest. The CT
scanner can be combined to some extent with the
interventional cardiology which we would
introduce at a latter point. At this point because
we just acquired the equipment, we will be using
it largely for diagnostic methods to pick disease
conditions and do that in a more precise manner."
Commenting about possible kidney transplant in
Nigeria, LUTH Chief MD said that the procedure
was possible at the hospital with just N3 million
but the donor must be a relative of the patient.
"Maybe if you help us make that public, that all
they need to do, is to bring a relative who is
willing to donate kidneys to them and with N3
million, we work them up, carry out the transplant
and follow them up" he stated.

As a footballer and as a popular figure, one must
learn to cope with every situation that comes his
way. Concerning my social life, I'm currently into
a relationship and I don't want to be distracted. I
want to be focused and keep on praying that
everything works out fine so that I can settle down
with the same person I'm into a relation with. I'm
not carried away with my brother's wealth. No
doubt girls come around me but I remain focused
on my career. Mikel too is into a relationship at
the moment right there in the United Kingdom.
When you stick to one person at a time, I think it
saves you a lot of trouble. But when you jump
from one today to another tomorrow, you create
room for every other girl to come in. We are not
on that track at all.
Mikel won't marry a white lady
No, no, no! We cannot advise Mikel to marry a
foreigner knowing full well what it involves. We'll
make him realize that if he gets married to a
foreigner, whatever comes out of the marriage, he
should be prepared to take it. I wouldn't want my
brother to be a victim of a failed marriage.
Even when I visited him in London, I warned him
about white ladies. I told him that even if he's
having a relationship with a white lady, it should
stop at that; he should not allow such relationship
to end up in marriage. I told him whenever he
wants to settle down in marriage, he should come
down to Nigeria and pick a wife. If he's thinking
towards the direction of getting married to a white
lady, we are not in support of that. My parents are
not in support of him getting married to a white. If
he's in a relationship, that's just a relationship.

She is back to work! Thank God for her life..
Actress Ngozi Nwosu after battling with a kidney
and heart related problem which made her spent
months in the US for treatment, is back and
already started working!
The actress was photographed looking healthy and
happy on set of Fuji House Of Commotion last
Sunday 7th of July.
Thank God for her life once again!!! We are happy
to see her back on her feet once again

MAJEK FASHEK TURNS BORN AGAIN - Gives Life To Christ At CMCM

Praise Jah! The Rainmaker, Majek Fashek, is
now a new creature. The iconic musician who
has been battling alcohol and drug addictions for
sometime has finally given his life to Christ.
The troubled entertainer from whose fecund
imagination emanated hit songs like Send Down
The Rain, Holy Spirit, I&I Experience and so on
publicly embraced Christ on Sunday, June 23,
2013. This was at the Christ Miracle Church
Mission, situated at Iyasuna Crescent, off Ishola
Bello Street, Ojodu, Lagos.
The church is being led by Prophet Peter Abiola
Adebisi, JP. The Edo born musician had attended
the church's 7 Sundays of Anointing for
Breakthrough Service for the first time, and got
converted. Members of the church were thrown
into joy afterwards. In fact, nearly all of them
rejoiced with him. Especially when Majek was
handed the microphone to do a song.
The song he chose to sing for the congregation
was one of his classics, Holy Spirit. And as he
did tears of joy streamed down some of the
members' faces!
YES International! could however not ascertain
whether or not the Reggae music king in Nigeria
has been regular in church since then. Or even
whether some ministers from CMCM have been
following up on him lest he backslides again.
Majek Fashek, obviously in his 50s, about two
decades ago, dominated the Nigerian music
scene. A total musician, he could sing, play the
guitar and also the keyboard.
Starting out as a member of the Jahstix band,
his debut album, Prisoner of Conscience,
catapulted his career and life to the zenith.
Then, he was still with the defunct Tabansi
Records and had Architect Aig Igiehon as his
manager. He crossed over to Sony Music – and
while there recorded albums like I & I
Experience – featuring popular numbers like
Mama Dede, Majek Fashek Inna New York and
so on.
His wife, Rita and one of his sons, Randy are
believed to still reside in America from where his
addiction problem is believed to have begun.
Now living from hand to mouth, Majek has been
a shadow of his old self since his return.
