Nigeria's foremost human rights activists,
Professor Wole Soyinka and Femi Falana (SAN), on
Thursday came down heavily on President
Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience;
describing the first lady in particular as a "mere
domestic appending of power" who should stop
meddling in governance.
Prof Soyinka and Falana lambasted President
Jonathan for:
Engineering the chaos rocking Rivers State House
of Assembly. The professor particularly said it is
obvious that Jonathan and his wife are using the
security apparatus to intimidate Governor Rotimi
Amaechi.
They also called on the police hierarchy to remove
and prosecute the commissioner of police in
Rivers state, Joseph Mbu for role in the saga.
An infuriated Soyinka also asked the media to stop
paying attention to the so-called newly elected
speaker of Rivers state, Evans Bipi, describing the
man as "a clown".
Prof Soyinka and Falana addressed the Press on
the show of shame in Rivers State on Thursday.
