The Inspector General of Police, (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar’s monitoring team, Kamselem, Obalende, branch, has launched a man hunt for the manager of First bank, Ladipo branch.
The manager is wanted for questioning, in connection with a fraud in the bank, running to over N100 million.
Sources said that the manager bolted after the fraud was uncovered.
The manager was said to have used his lover’s bank account, with First bank, to facilitate the fraud. The lover had been identified as Bukky.
According to a source, the manager usually steals money from First bank, and hides it in the lady’s bank account; from there he would transfer the money to other bank accounts.
He was also alleged to have used the lady’s certificate of incorporation, to open several other accounts in other banks.
In Landipo’s branch of the bank alone, the man stole N35million, plus other money from other branches and banks.
When the fraud was discovered, First bank had invited police, but the smart manager had quickly disappeared.
When policemen could not locate him, they had gone after Bukky.
During interrogation, Bukky claimed that he and the manager were no longer lovers. She also denied knowing what the manager had been doing with her account and certificate of incorporation.
Bukky was detained for four days at Alagbon police cell, in Obalende, Lagos .
She was however later released and ordered to be reporting at Kamselem.Meanwhile, detectives have continued to hunt for the fleeing bank manager.
