The management of Power Holding
Company of Nigeria, Kaduna Electricity
Distribution Company (PHCN/KEDC) has
apologised to electricity consumers from
Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States over the
power interruption in those states.
In a press statement issued yesterday by the
Assistant General Manager, Public Affairs, KEDC,
Baba Limmy Omar-Ikaige, he attributed the
interruption of electricity to those areas due to the
collapse of three 330KVA transmission line towers
at Karaye/ Dogon Daji axis in Maiyama local
government area of Kebbi State.
He said the collapse of the transmission line was
caused as a result of a wind storm and torrential
rainfall in the area on Saturday.
According to the statement, the management of
PHCN/KEDC is making frantic efforts to restore
power to those areas as "technical teams and
logistic resources are being mobilized to those areas
to ensure quick restoration of power supply."
He, therefore, appealed to all customers for
understanding, calmness and cooperation during
the trying period of power interruption as all efforts
to restore power are being made to resolve the
matter.
As a way forward to ensure a more stable power
supply, the management urged all members of the
public to assist in guarding and protecting all power
installations in their areas.
The statement also warned electricity consumers to
avoid touching any aluminium conductors on the
ground or dangling on tree branches near them, but
urged that such cases should be reported to the
nearest PHCN/KEDC office for necessary action.
