The Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha's
moves to crush his opponents has reached a
new height, as one of the prominent radio
station that campaigned vigorously for his
election has been ordered to close down.
The Governor directed the management of Owerri
Capital Development Authority (OCDA) to issue
the Owerri based private radio station, HOT 99.5
FM, seven days to quit its present premises.
The Imo State Government agency read the riot
act in a letter it addressed to the management of
the radio station, dated Sept. 17, 2013, and
signed by one Chief Amadi.
HOT 99.5FM station, is owned by Senator Chris
Anyanwu (APGA) is located located along Musa
Yar'Adua Drive, New Owerri. The HOT FM owner
was attacked by Governor Okorocha months ago,
when the governor ran into her convoy. The Imo
state Governor is dealing with APGA members
who refused to join him to APC and doing
everything within his power to humble them.
Ardent listeners of the radio station and careful
political watchers in the state have described the
current travail of the broadcast outfit as "sheer
vendetta and a ploy to force the station to either
close down or relocate to another state".
