At the weekend about seven policemen died
when suspected members of the Boko Haram
attacked a mobile police formation in Bama,
a border town in Borno State, according to
Daily Trust.
But the Joint Task Force (JTF) in the state in their
account of the incident in a statement on Monday
claimed that only one policeman died when the
insurgent attacked the town on Sunday morning.
A senior public servant (name withheld) told
journalists yesterday that seven policeman died
from the incident while other injured policemen
who sustained injuries were receiving treatment at
the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital
(UMTH).
The Borno State Government gave the sum of
N250,000 to each (5 policemen and 3 soldiers) who
sustained injuries during the attack
Alhaji Zanna Umar Mustapha, who was on a
sympathy visit to the injured policemen at the
UMTH announced the money on behalf of the
state. He said the security men were injured in the
course of defending the nation and wished them
quick recovery,adding that the government will
continue to support security agencies in the state.
