A suspected car snatcher, Emmanuel Ogbole,
has been nabbed by Benue police in
Okpakanya village in Otukpo Local
Government Area of the state and recovered
a black Toyota Corolla car.
Police spokesperson in the state, Daniel Ezeala,
said yesterday that the suspect was apprehended
on Tuesday following a tip off after he allegedly
snatched the car with no registration number from
a lady in Abuja.
Ezeala said the suspect who has already been
charged to court, confessed that he stole the car
from one Mrs. Jennifer Nimako of plot 989, Olu
Obasanjo way, Abuja on August 4 and took it to
Otukpo.
He added that the victim has since been contacted
and that she confirmed that her car was stolen on
the said date.
In another development, the police command at
about 1:15am yesterday recovered a Peugeot 406
car with registration number, GTU 72 AA Benue,
belonging to Orgar Agwoke of Federal Medical
Centre, Makurdi.
The police spokesman said the car was recovered
after a hot pursuit of the criminals by the police.
He said the two robbers escaped into the bush and
abandoned the car just before the police could
catch up with them. Ezeala said investigation into
the matter has commenced.
