EFCC Arrests Nigerian Football Chief For Alleged Involvement In N15bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday arrested the
Vice President of the Nigerian Football
Federation, NFF, Mike Umeh, in Lagos for
fraud following an arrest warrant issued by a
high court in Sokoto State.
Mr. Umeh, who was expected to join the
Super Eagles in camp on Tuesday, will be
arraigned at the ongoing trial of the
former governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru
Bafarawa, on Wednesday in Sokoto.
According to the spokesperson of the EFCC ,Wilson
Uwujaren, Mr Umeh was arrested for being an
accomplice in the case of money laundering and
misappropriation of public funds to the tune of N15
billion against Mr. Bafarawa. Mr. Umeh, a
businessman, allegedly worth billions of Naira, will
appear before Justice Bello Abbas.
