The Police in Lagos have arrested a
member of the Lagos State Council of
Obas and Chiefs. Vanguard learnt that his
arrest was in connection with weekend's
communal clash in Ajah area of
Lagos,where six persons were killed and
several others injured
Facts emerged that chief Fatai Lawal
Olumegbon of Ajah Lagos was yesterday
afternoon arrested and taken away in handcuffs by law enforcement officers following the clash as he is said to be the
main finnanciar of the warring group of boys the Olumegbon Boy"s
His arrest, as gathered, followed information
that he was allegedly fuelling the lingering crisis in the area.
As at 5pm, yesterday, 15 patrol vans carrying
policemen led by the Area Commander 'J', Mr
Felix Vwamhi were still conducting searches in
his palace in Ajah after reportedly cordoning off
the area.
Police sources told Vanguard that "there was
information that he is harbouring hit men in the
palace and that there are also arms there."
The suspect, as gathered, was arrested Sunday
night and immediately taken to the Special Anti-
Robbery Squad, Ikeja, even as investigation was
said to be ongoing at press time.
Thugs operating on motorcycles, Saturday
morning, attacked some Ajah indigenes playing
football on a pitch in the area with guns and
other dangerous weapons. The attack spiralled
into a bloody clash that led to the death of six
people with many others injured.
