Unknown Gunmen Attack Police Patrol, Kill Inspector In Niger State

A Police Inspector in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State was on Monday killed by yet to be identified gunmen who rode on a motor bike.

The Inspector was killed and his rifle taken off him when the gunmen opened fire on an advancing police patrol team which was led by the now deceased police officer.

Confirming the incident in Minna, the State
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr.
Richard Oguche affirmed that the gunmen took the patrol team by surprise which resulted in the death of the police officer.

Although, Mr. Oguche declined revealing the
identity of the deceased, he disclosed that the
command has arrested 50 suspects in
connection with the attack just as he added that investigation was still on-going.
